I just recently upgraded to a smartphone and a major justification was being able to have a phone/camera/fieldguide at far less than a pound in my field bag. Currently I have both the Audobon guide (far better than their print guides) and iBird Pro and find both to be useful especially at the $0.99 price point I picked them up at. Audubon seems to have better vocalization recordings than iBird, but iBird runs faster and is far easier to browse. Being able to reference calls in the field is incredibly useful to me as my memory for novel calls is low. These field guides are also excellent for quick confirmation of ID or confirming field marks, but I'll still keep my deadtree field guide in the car.

Great rundown of features and bugs! The fact that Sibley lets you sort by state is extremely appealing so I may have to pick that up in the future.

I currently have iBird Explorer, and even though I like it, it's not as helpful to me as a print field guide. It does have photos, which is helpful, but I like to compare different species side by side to try to spot their differences, and I can't do that with iBird Explorer. But it does help in the field because I can carry my iPod around in my pocket while a book is harder.

My favorite is Sibley's, the compare feature is what makes it my go to guide.

What, no love for the Peterson Birds of North America app? You should definitely give it a try. More info than any of those you mentioned and currently on sale for 99¢ (reg. $14.99).
