Gerard and Charlene Butler, homeowners in western Newfoundland, are the occasional hosts of a Fieldfare (Code 4). They have spotted this visitor feeding on apples about five times since mid-December in their yard in Reidville, which is a little more than 30 miles northeast of Corner Brook. The latest sightings have been on Jan 19, 22, and 23.

Sightings have been irregular. There are many fruit trees in the area, so the Fieldfare may be wandering around a fairly large area. The Butlers have hung out apple slices and berries which may make sightings more reliable. If this is successful, more information on its location will be publicized.
Fieldfares were more commonly seen in the 1970s and 1980s. Since then, the number of sightings in Newfoundland have crashed. This is the first report from the province in over a decade.
