Tim Rodenkirk found Oregon's first Common Eider at Coos Bay on March 16. It was seen again on March 17. The Eider is at Fossil Point (map here), which is 3 miles southwest of North Bend, Oregon.
To get to Fossil Point from North Bend, take Newmark Street west from Highway 101. It's name changes to Newmark Avenue, and then just before it ends, turn left (south) on S Empire Blvd. After almost three miles, you'll see a Dairy Queen on the right. Go about 0.1 miles and there is a turnout on the right that goes to a small pump house. Park here. Low tide seems to be the best time to look as you can walk around Fossil Point, which is where the Eider was originally found. This spot is not visible from the parking area. From what I've read, it sounds like this area is walkable about 2-3 hours before and after low tide.

Maybe the same bird that was in Westport, WA for a few days in October..

Both first year males, I'd say we have a match. I wonder where it spent the last four months?
